The Marker
Originating in France, the practice of planting Roses at the end of vines was common. The reason being, that Grape vines and Rose leaves are both prone to the same powdery mildew. As Roses are more susceptible than the grape vines, the mark of any mildew on its leaves was an early warning to viticulturists that disease is in the vineyard. While modern science has meant that disease can now be picked up much more quickly, Rosenthal’s “The Marker” pays homage to this quaint tradition.

THE MARKER – Riesling
Brilliant pale straw. Vibrant aromas of citrus blossom and lemon zest with underlying floral notes. The palate is intense with flavours citrus, limes and green apple intertwined around a talc-like structure leading to a crisp flinty finish.

Brilliant medium straw. Lifted bouquet of nectarines and white peach with an underlay of toasty spice and nuts. The palate has complexity and richness from barrel ferment characters while cashews and peach notes swirl together to give a long flavoursome finish.

Delicate aromas of cranberry and spice. The palate has a mouth-watering savouriness with sour cherries, spice and blackcurrant. The wine has a lovely textural element and a long dry finish.

Deep crimson with a purple hue. Vibrant aromas of violets and spice with subtle plum notes and earthiness. The palate is full and textured with savoury, earthy characters that are supported by well-integrated fine tannins leading to a long elegant finish.

Deep purple with a purple hue. Lifted bouquet of bramble fruits, plum and spice with subtle savoury oak. Full round mouthfeel of dark fruits, cherry and blueberry. The mid-palate is rich with well integrated dusty tannins, supported by complex elegant oak. This wine displays great structure with a long full finish.

Deep crimson with a purple hue. Lifted bouquet of luscious dark fruits, complex toasty oak, with a hint of pepper. A long voluptuous palate featuring plum and blueberries, supported by well integrated fine tannins leading to an rich flavoursome finish.
